Welcome to Wedding Central. We’re delighted you’re here. On September 5, 2010, in a state of glorious excitement, we will wed in front of you, our most important and loved friends and family. Join us on Labor Day weekend, on Orcas Island, in the spectacular San Juan Islands of Washington state!
First off, here’s some important links. Look into stuff you need to know about, like Getting There and Accommodations.
Then kick back and learn About Us, read the Schedule, and get an answer to that tricky question: Aren’t You Married Already?
This is not one of those weddings where you stand around making awkward conversation with strangers. Our wedding site opens its doors on Thursday Sept. 2 and the festivities end on Monday Sept. 6. Consider coming to Washington even earlier and making this trip your summer vacation.
Why such an involved affair? We want the chance to spend quality time with you, our friends and family, and for our guests to get to know each other. We hope you remember this weekend, not just for our wedding, but because you soaked up new vistas and experiences and had a damn good time.
The upside of holding a wedding on Orcas Island is that it’s a really special place. Orcas is a green jewel of an isle accessible only by ferry or plane, with mountains and lakes and yes, orcas whales. The center point of our celebration is lovely Camp Moran, an old Civilian Conservation Corps camp from the 1930s that is reborn as a playground for you. It will be reminiscent of camp when you were a kid.
Camp Moran has 12 bunkhouses arrayed around a big grassy field that encompasses a volleyball court, a half-basketball court, an apple orchard and a private beach on Cascade Lake, where you can paddle around in one of the four canoes or dive off the dock into warm water. Or just read a book and get a sunburn. Camp Moran also has a lodge of generous proportions, for the eating and dancing.
The downside of holding a wedding on Orcas Island is that it takes some effort to get there. We want to make it as easy for you as possible. Please check out our Getting There page right now and start planning. We are dreaming up ways to have fun with you this weekend and we envision a memorable time on the island!
